OK lets do this now ;)
  • Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

  • NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
For some time it will look like nothing is happening. Just keep waiting.
  • Once it's done it will create a log. A window will come up telling you when it's saved. Please post that log here

Lets back up your registry before we attempt the next fix.

Go to Start > Run - type:

regedit

Click OK.

When you get into the registry, on the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top. Then go up to "File > Export" Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch. Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files", then save it as backup to a convenient location. Remember where you put it (I don't recommend putting it on the desktop) This is so the registry can be restored to this point should anything be deleted by accident or something else happens. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.

please download this to your desktop

http://efwis.geekstogo.com/fixreg3.zip

unzip to your desktop

Locate fixreg3.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?". Answer "Yes" and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

Reboot into safe mode.

Open hijackthis and scan, check off the following:

I can't seem to open fixreg3. When I double click on it, it says "Windows cannot open it" b/c it needs to know what program created it. It asks if I would like to use web service to find program to open it, or select program to open it.

Any suggestions?

I just renamed fixreg3 to fixreg3.reg. That converted it into the right file type. I successfully merged and am about to reboot in safe mode. More soon...

Rebooted in safe mode, Ran HJT, fixed the 017's.
Rebooted and here's fresh HJT. I'm assuming it's not a good thing that those 017's came back:
