Are you wanting to make a grid around certain cells only, or do you just want the gridlines to show when you print the spreadsheet?

I assume you are refering to placing gridlines in the plot area of a chart, right?
If so, click once on the plot area (the area contained within the 2 axis) to select it. Then right click & select 'chart option'. Go to the 'gridlines' tab & there you can pick from major/minor horizontal (Y axis) & vertical (x axis) gridlines.
These options can also be set up when you first create the chart, as well as afterwards.
