So I downloaded AVG because Norton expired and I don't have the money to pay for it again. So AVG keeps giving me pop up warnings that I have a Trojan: Downloader.Agent.D (I think) but when I run the scanner nothing comes up. I just ran Ad-aware and got rid of a few things it found, and I ran the TrendMicro Online Virus Scanner and it found nothing. I'll post my HijackThis log, but please tell me what I should do. Thanks.

Run a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Please download the newest version of Hijack This in my signature. It should be 1.98.2

Sorry for not deleting all my temporary files, I usually do that I just was getting very frustrated and not thinking. I did everything you said, and I haven't gotten another message from AVG, but here's my new Hijackthis log just to check out and make sure. Thanks again.

There's no trace of weatherbug left in Add/remove programs, i don't know if i should go somewhere else to get rid of it. I just got the trojan message again for the trogan Downloader.Agent.D...it says it's in C:\System Volume Information\_restore{5C1D6479-4D77-45F1-830D-8BAFCC7192B2}\RP59\A0014038.dll

here's the new log with the new hijackthis:

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

But I'm still getting the warning pop up that I have a trojan. And The Cleaner, and AVG, and TrendMicro all don't see it when I do a scan.

The pop up box says the following:

AVG Resident Shield

Virus
Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.D

is found in file
C:\System Volume Information\_restore {5C1D6479-4D77-45F1-8E0D-8BAFCC7192B2}\RP59\A0014038.dll

To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows.

But when I run AVG, it doesn't find anything. AVG is all updated, and I tried the TrendMicro Housecall and it didn't find anything. If you have any advice please let me know.

Thank you so much.

Does it occur when you run a certain program. The same thing happened when my kids were trying to play a game on the internet. It happened with several games they tried playing.

The only programs I have open are AIM MSN Messanger and Mozilla Firefox. Unless you count things running in the background such as AVG, and Sygate Firewall.

I get multiple popups of the same thing if i just leave my computer alone with just AIM running. I haven't noticed it happen when I do anything specific.

C:\System Volume Information\_restore {5C1D6479-4D77-45F1-8E0D-8BAFCC7192B2}\RP59\A0014038.dll

This is located in your System Restore file, and AVG can't fiox or remove it from there. The only thing you can do is remove the restore point.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
