not at all.

the cdrom also acted as a dvdrom also so sometimes dvds would skip but that was once in the clear blue, and that usually was b/c the dvd was dirty.

I dont know about the specific problems, but I can answer a few questions.

The laptop hard drive is the same. It should be able to work in any laptop. There may be an adapter, but that will come off with the old drive.

The laptop hard drive is normally very simple to get to. Its 1-2 screws on the side or bottom of the laptop and the drive just slides out. No cords or wires. Just a plug that the drive slides into.

this is from ScHwErV so as far as the drive goes...any laptop drive should work..just make sure it doesn't exceede any size limitations

... decided to chime in here... just FYI

Just in case you didn't know, there is a very good Thinkpad forum that can help you with Thinkpad issues... especially hardware/recommendations/compatibility issues. Drop by http://forum.thinkpads.com/index.php sometime and check it out.

When giving specs on your Thinkpad, it's always good to know the four digit machine type as many IBM spec/data sheets refer to this number for specific information like compatibility.
