Hello

A number of other people have identified this same problem. I have looked at the recommended fixes and they don't seem to work for me. <_<

The initial message I get on log-in in is:

RUNDLL
"Error Loading p2esocks-1015.dll, specific module could not be found".

Additional Information
I am running Windows XP SP2
I have Ad-aware SP Plus loaded

When I run Ad-aware and delete all the entries then re-run the program again - all the entries re-appear. (this does not happen for my other log-ons on the same computer, my wifes profile etc)

When I try and fix a registry entry using HiJackThis - the entry immediately re-appears

I have System Restore switched off (using MyComputer - Properties - System Restore)

Any Ideas - I am pulling my hair out over this (an have very little to spare)

Many thanks in advance

Here is my HiJackThis log;

<_< Oh man, this one sounds like fun first off check out this link, it does sound like you have a bit of spyware installed..... :D

http://forums.feis.h...sp?TOPIC_ID=656

Before you go ahead and start hacking at the registry, (been there, done that, had to reinstall) check the C:\Windows\mslagent\mslagent.exe first, follow the steps listed in the link to get rid of it.

Second download Adaware SE from http://www.download....e se&tg=dl-2001 (never mind, checking your Hijack this log, looks like you have installed it already)

You might also want to check out this site http://www.paretolog.../xoftspy/lp/14/

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

:D Hello

Thank you for taking the time to look at my problem.

Unfortunately the situation is just the same. I followed your instructions exactly.
On the next re-boot the "RUNDLL P2esocks-1015.Dll" message has disappeared, however, on the next reboot, everything was back the way it was.

I was suspicious of this entry:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Update Service] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\TEKNUM~1\update.exe /startup

Do you know what it's for? If not, right click on the file icon, click on properties, and reply with what's shown. <_<

- Download CWShredder.
- Save it to your desktop.
- Do not run it yet. We will run it later.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated)

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated)
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://default.home/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated)
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated)
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: DOMPeek Class - {834261E1-DD97-4177-853B-C907E5D5BD6E} - C:\WINDOWS\dpe.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMsgSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System\MSMSGSVC.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Instant Access] rundll32.exe p2esocks_1015.dll,InstantAccess
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Begone] c:\freescan\freescan.exe -FastScan

O16 - DPF: {CA034DCC-A580-4333-B52F-15F98C42E04C} (Downloader Class) - http://www.stopzilla...ller/dwnldr.cab

Reboot after doing so, preferably into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\System\MSMSGSVC.exe

Now run CWShredder.

Then boot normally and post back.

Pieter

<_< Hello

Making some headway.

MSMSGSVC gone
DPE.Dll gone
Freescan.exe gone
CWShredder can find no problems
AD-Aware SE can find no problems

Also downloaded Kaspersky Personal Anti-Virus trial version, ran a complete scan (in safe mode) and got rid of a number of Trojens.

Last problem remaining - the - RUNLL : P2esocks-1015.dll message is still appearing.

Something is reloading the three registry entries (04 MSMsgSvc,P2eSocks & freescan) at start-up

Thank you for your continued help.

Are you allowing the changes in AdWatch?

If necessary Fix the returning items in safe mode.

They are no longer running, so you can even uncheck them in msconfig if you prefer.

Pieter

Hello It appears that Adwatch was disallowing the registry changes.

When I unloaded Adwatch and deleted the registry entries & rebooted, they did not reappear. If I then reloaded Adwatch, the entries were restored.

I think that I will not be using Adwatch, just Ad-Aware.

I think that I will obtain a registered copy of Kaspersky anti-virus an my main protection. The trial version found and cleaned more virus's than McAfee, ZoneAlarm and TrojenHunter put together.

Thank you for your patience and expertise in helping me sort this situation out. My PC now seems 'clean as a whistle'.

Derek.
