This problem! Hopefully someone here will. PLEASE REPLY AND HELP ME FIND A SOLUTION! Pretty please.

Ive downloaded MSN messenger 7.0 but it wont work. Everytime the program tries to open I get the Horrible error message 'Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close'

Ive uninstalled it, re-installed it - didnt work

Ive disabled/enabled windows messenger - didnt work

Ive stopped/started my firewall - didnt work

Ive emailed MSN - didnt get back to me

Ive downloaded all updates - no positive effect

Ive done a full virus scan, spyware, clean up which brought up nothing much

There is no error code when the error message pops up. It does give the option to debug, when i debug, nothing happens?

Sometimes the msm messenger icon appears in the system tray, when i hover over it, it disappears, like its taunting me.

Ive searched the web for a solution and nothing!?

Please help me!

my advice is to go back to msn 6.2 instead of 7. I know thats not what you wanted to hear, but msn 7 has had so many issues. We were supporting winks and so on here till it proved to be more trouble than it was worth.

alternativly you could use gaim or trillian.

When you try and revert to 6.2, it installs, but then when you try and open it, it says there is a newer version available and does not give you any other option but to download it?

I need to know whats causing this problem!

Thanks for replying though

gotta love microsoft. I use msn, yahoo, and icq. That's why I switched to Trillian. I may not get winks, but the interface is way much better IMHO.

You might end up formatting your system and starting over to get it to work. and from what I know that's not a guarrenty.

Have you got any Add-Ons like MSN Plus on? If so try and deleting them using Add or Remove Programs!
