you might be able to get a magic marker the same color as your desktop background color and scribble over the icon...that would technically make it go away right? (just kidding)

lol, you've got one annoying problem. This is the last thing I can think of doing:

Run Scandisk and scan your hard drive. Do a thorough scan! Here's how you get to Scandisk:

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, ScanDisk

Hopefully it is just a glitch due to an error or damage that ScanDisk can fix. The scan will probably take 1-3 hours. Let me know how it goes.

That's to delete a stubborn file if I'm not mistaken.

Quote:
This page describes "DelinvFile.exe" which is a Free Utility that you can use to delete data files that you have not been able to delete using the normal Windows Delete function.
I don't have a file location. :tazz:

If I knew EVERYTHING about computers, I wouldn't be at this site now would I? :tazz: I'm good with computers, especially when I'm in front of one. Trying to fix a computer over the internet has its own challenges.

Thanks but that didn't work either. The Erase option does not appear when I right click on it. When I right click on the icon it only gives these four options:

Connect  (Microsoft Connection Mgr - Service Profile Damaged. Please re-install the service profile.)

Delete  (Microsoft Connection Mgr - Service Profile Damaged. Please re-install the service profile.)

Properties  (Look at my very first post for what this reads.)

[snipped by witan] .....

For a similar problem, I downloaded delinvfile.exe from http://tinyurl.com/dmdu8 (or go to http://www.purgeie.com/delinv.htm and download from there). It "deletes invalid files". It worked like magic for me!

Wish you success.
