The cpu is a good one but if you want cheaper the 3800+ can be overclocked to very fast speeds(its one of those chips that will become legendary for overclocking) and it is cheaper, and you certainly have the mobo for overclocking.

The ram is good timings are a littles slow corsair does better on that front but OCZ overclcoks better. You might want ot go for a 8ms response monitor instead. Dont get a cheap PSU Hiper and Antec make really good ones, this isnt a choice plug an X2 and a 7800GTX into a cheapo ebuyer PSU at your peril just dont moan when your pc emits smoke.

I would get the 200gig version of the HD it gives better value for money considering its like a fiver more for the extra 40gigs. The motherboard dont start going on about cracking things on your first computer get an SLI board(the new ones can run the slots at 16x now so you want one of those). Or get crossfire and an ATI card the R520s are equivalent in performance to the 7800s but are limited in numbers but thats not what you want. The R580s are coming Yule(no idea when that is i just know its this year), and thew r580s are the dogz bollox and they are gonna be pretty cheap because apparently they were really easy to manufacture and are alot more powerful than the 7800s.

And you want to think about a case i would reccomend anything Antec, nice solid cases with good cooling potential perfect for a first time builder.
