My AVG has quarantined Java\ByeteVerify and Java\ClassLoader. There were more Trojans from Java which in researching said "in November 2005 your hard drive partion will be destroyed.". And best way of ridding of these Trogans is deleting & reinstalling. Now you understand how inadequate of knowing what to do. Im aware when you delete an Trojan that theres more to deleting it and checking for hidden applets that mutilply and whom I had once experience with a techinician to help me to cleean out all my malware.
Not that it matters much but in my search in deleting these Trojans, it said my privacy can be exploited by incorrectly installing "Java Runtime Environment"
I will expreciate some educated support in reinstalling this application.
Warmly
Lyn

If you have already removed Java, use the online installation

http://www.java.com/...load/manual.jsp

If you have not already uninstalled Java, do it with add / remove

Then run online installation

In control panel it shows I have J2SE Runtime "5.0 update 2" but delete option is gone even tho this program still shows.
In control panel I have J2SE Runtime "5.0 update 4" delete option is there.

I used to have J2SE 1.4.2 which was " update 2" I deleted it. Do I need to reinstall both updates???
And where else can I delete this program so it will not come back
and show up in control panel?

Thank you for your time and help,
Lyn

You can use search, including hidden and system files to look for java, send any of these to the bin, check the properties and location if you are unsure if they are Sun Java Runtime or not

Leave them in the bin and reboot, run the PC for a while and run a few programmes to check they run

You only need to install 5.0 update 4

I use the online installation as it will stop if there are errors in the download, which IMO is better than discovering faults during the install

Dear Kieth,
To explain why when I deleted JRE 1.4.2 control panel showed it still there but with the option " change" or " Remove " was gone but now came back.
I understand why it may not have been rememoved. In " safe mode" I clicked on to remove JRE v 1.4.2 update 2 when an error said..
" Windows Installer is improperly Installed".
Well my experience has been it always some other problems before getting to the original problem. Im very motivated to do what needs to be done to get my applications working correctly Will you direct me where I can find Windows Installer and best way to delete it. And then a link on how the best way to reinstall it.

Warmly,
Lyn

This is for Windows Installer

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

This is for Java Runtime

http://www.java.com/...load/manual.jsp

I have better results using online installation

You only need one version

Remove any existing versions before installing from Java, you can also try step 3 first to verify installation, which should show none installed

You won't install anything without Windows Installer

You got the error with Java because Windows Installer was not there or was damaged

You need to install Windows Installer before you can get Java or any other programme to install

This is the link for Windows Installer

Keith........ Its not my night!
Because I know I saw popup saying, updates downloaded do you want to view them.
Its not even loaded in co ntrol panel.

In trying to look everywhere, in control panel...JSE ..clicked...rarely used...and it asked if I wanted to delete it! It was some type of unistall wizard. Do u think this is good enough to delete JSE????????????

Feeling challenged by my computer.
Very gratefull for your help and patience,
Warmly Lyn

Does it say Java anywhere on the uninstaller

You will still need to solve validation before you can install it again

Hi Kieth,
I finally downloaded Windows Installer 3.1 Redistrisable.
Is there a way to check if it was properly downloaded this time?
I saw patches and other applications that were downloaded along with this program. Is any other application needed????
