can't play XVid files! need help!

:) hi,geeks. my computer can't play XVid with Windows Media Player. then i downloaded the codec under the instruction of "Web Help". but no sound at all. it is the same with Realplayer. Many thanks in advance. :tazz:

Hey
Have you tried to update your windows media player?
Try to run windows update, it could help.
Another thing you can do is download the and update divx
Driver from http://www.free-codecs.com/

You could give VLC media player a try. It's a freeware media player that plays loads of different formats including Xvid.

:tazz: i would like to say thank you, Simplejohn and ZEUS GB, for your advice. glad to tell you that VLC media player is amazing, it works well. it's the first time i have ever heard and tried the player. it gives me very deep impression. although i got the latest version Windows media player, it doesn't work.
