1) Can't find C:\WINDOWS\inet20001\winlogon.exe
2) 10-15 minutes into a windows session, my pc slows way way down. Task Manager\Processes shows that winlogon.exe is taking 99% of my CPU. Tried ending that process, and I get a message saying that it's such a vital part of Windows that it won't let me shut this down.
I ran the fix for my first issue. That is to say, I clicked start-->run: msconfig startup tab and unclicked the entry that called for c:\windows\inet2001\winlogon.exe
I hoped the two issues were related, but I still have the problem with the winlogon.exe taking over my processes. I've tried getting in a quick scan with Ad-Aware SE Personal, SpywareBlaster, Ewido and all the others I've seen recommended in the forums, but my pc slows down too much to make such a scan feasible. Sidenote: AVG completely flipped out and kept popping up virus threat alerts. Tried to move them to the vault, delete them, etc, but the same ones (maybe) kept popping up. Finally I quit the program.
