I understand your concern, you have a new variant that showed up between fixes. it is important, that if possible you,do not surf the internet while fixing.

you have VX2.

* Download finditnt200xp.zip.
* Unzip the contents of finditnt2000xp.zip to a convenient location.
* Navigate to the Find It NT-2K-XP folder and double-click on find.bat.
* A command prompt will open and it will search your computer for malicious files.
* Once it has finished a Notepad window will pop up with output.txt.
* Copy the entire contents of output.txt into your next post.

we will not be using that findit log from now on... there is an automatic removal tool.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

OUCH!

Having run l2mfix with option 2 i now have NO access to the internet! Something in my network connections has been corrupted. I have been spending my time trying to get it back -- recreating my connections -- redoing my tcpip settingss etc. Nothing helps so far. Have you experienced this problem with other users? (I am sending this from work).

Here is the output from l2mfix:

THANK-YOU !!!!

:tazz: ;)   :woot:   :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

It looks like I may be clean. Below is my final HJT logfile. After following your advice from the last post I was not getting any of the old pop-ups any more. I was however getting a TON of messages from the Microsoft AntiSpyware about IST.ISTBAR -- I'd remove it and it would come right back again. I updated my system with Microsoft Update and that seems to have stopped. However i do still see and entry in my HJT log for "Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe" Is this a problem?

One again I want to thank-you very much. You have no idea how much i appreciate your assistance.

Can I get rid of other entries in my HJT log if i know they are used only by software my kids had installed in the past -- like WildTangent and other game related entries. I thinmk HJT is a great tool -- is there a listing somewhere of what entries to look out for that cause spyware -- i'd like to be able to diagnose and remove this stuff myself in the future, if it happens again, without having to bug you guys.

looks like you recently installed a program called superad blocker, you need to remove it, it is spyware. you also have gotten reinfected with some new viruses and such.

In reference to your question about entries you know on HJT, yes you can remove them. however check to make sure the progrma is no longer on your computer by going to Add/Remove in your control panel.

Here is the fix for the entries i see in your new log.

Click on CTRL-Alt-Delete then hit the Processes tab find and stop these processes.

C:\WINDOWS\pmikwcjb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wfgcjj.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Please look over the Following Entries I have listed, run Hijack This again and check them and then, making sure you have No Internet Explorer Windows open, including this one, Press the "Fix Checked" Button with HijackThis.

Reboot If I have specified below, and Post a Fresh HijackThis log.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nsvcin] C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dHDIeL5] C:\WINDOWS\pmikwcjb.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [secure] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wfgcjj.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)

After this, Reboot and Delete the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.exe
C:\WINDOWS\pmikwcjb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wfgcjj.exe

Note: Make sure you have Set Windows to show Hidden Files & Folders before you Start Sending Them to us For Analysis, or you're deleting them. This can be done by looking at the instructions at This Webpage http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

To Delete These Files/Folders, You Will need to Boot into Safe Mode. This can be done by tapping F8 while your machine restarts.

it seems we have a stubborn entry that refuses to be removed.

Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wfgcjj.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.
