Cannot remove W32/Opanki Worm [CLOSED]

McAfee Virusscan detected the W32/Opanki worm on my computer. I quarantined it, but when I tried to clean it, it said that it could not be cleaned. The worm infected something in the System Volume Information section, so it could be a remnant of a bunch of AIM Viruses I got a while ago. Can anybody help me remove this and fix my computer's registry? Thanks.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards.

Download AimFix and run it now.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

Thanks for your help! My computer is running very smoothly now. I just have one question. I previously had other viruses on this computer, and if they were backed up in the System Volume Information folder, did clearing the SVI folder remove all of those viruses?

Disabling System Restore will clear out the SVI folder :tazz:
