Hellow everyone. this is my first post here so go easy on me if I put it in the wrong place etc. I also searched vhs to dvd and dident come up with anything.

anyway, it should be simple but of course, theres always a caveate whatever that means.

Ive got a vhs tape in the vcr. its playing out to Pinnical Dazzle converter which has video and two adudio inputs. Pretty simple so far right?

the other side is even easier. Its just a usb plug.

now it gets complicated like everything else in life. :)

then Ive got Premiere Pro 2.0 running trying to capture it but Premiere Pro will not recognise the signal from Dazzle -- IT HAS as drop down menu with a whole bunch of possible inputs ranging from cameras to recording decks and ONE happens to be Dazzle (bedazzle  ?) I set it on generic, I set it on "alternative I and II but there is not connection between the capture and the deck (vcr).

Premiere Pro will recognize my camcorder (Panasonic DVD101) BUT Pdvd101 does NOT have a LINE IN option. The only way you can get footage into the camera is to shoot it (and I dont want to take a picture of the tv  )

so the other option I tried was to capture using good 'ol windows movie maker - through the Dazzle hardware, which Worked! :help: BUT there was no sound. :whistling:

over at the Adobe Forum, RGB told me that wasent a plausible direction cause he says Dazzle puts out DV.avi Type 2 which will not work with PP2.0

Thus, we captured, but we dident inhale

discuss..

best, M/

yep, thats the camera...

problem is, the camera doesnt have a "line in" feature.

that means the only way to get an image onto the camera is to film it.

Once its on there of course, I can firewire it out to Premiere 2.0 but I cant get the VHS tape onto the camera.

When I went through the avi / usb converter (Dazzle) it allowed the video through but not the sound.

How much of this will you be doing

You could use a capture card to connect the VHS directly to the PC

Or use a VHS player / DVD recorder (standalone)

LOTS!

"Dazzle" is a capture device. It goes between the VCR and PC but for some reason there is no sound being captured.

thus, the reason for my call.

theres a similar thread here on this forum - they seemed to get it right?

Keith,

I used the "search" feature in XP with "emsys" but came up clean.

what is it?

also, after downloading the drivers for the Dazzle hardware, XP said your hardware is ready to use but like i said, there is no sound.

??

I've searched for dazzle but there are a few threads about an audio driver which would not load when it was installed

From the other thread you found, were you able to find out if Pinnacle have live chat where you are

by the sounds of that thread, it seemed like those guys got it working. I tried to follow thier steps but it dident work so well for me.

since I bought the hardware second hand, Pinnacle will not help me out which is why Im here - also cause google guided me to that thread.

.... Judging by your flag, I'd say it blowing about 15knts out of the SW in England?
