Ok...I've an install going so I can break it...
Does your wireless mouse connect via USB? If it does, disconnect it until you need it again.

If the install hasn't moved past 33 minutes, let's restart the install...all you should have to do is restart. If it asks which one to start, choose the WINDOWS directory. No wireless mouse this time...use the touchpad.
Mmmmmmmmm...ice cream.
*wannabe1 runs for the freezer and hopes there's lots of chocolate syrup

Stuck on the same place again. Question. If, to begin with, we were repairing WINDOWSO, and got stuck there, why do we keep getting stuck on this place installing WINDOWS???
When it first reboots, it goes really fast through a screen. If I could get it to slow down, could I pick another Windows to install to, as your last post suggests? I can't really read the screen it moves so fast.

Got brave and tried installing it again. Right after it started, I just hit the down arrow. It stopped the screen which showed 2 MSWindows Operating systems. No WINDOWS or WINDOWSO.
I tried the bottom one instead of the top and it starts at the same place - skips all the steps - and jumps to installing. Hangs at that same 33 mins.
It is now time for some serious popcorn.

That's really odd. I've been unable to duplicate that on my test machine. Even with bad hardware and corrupt drivers, I've been able to get the second install.
I wonder if it still hung up looking for that wireless mouse. As much as I hate to ask you to do this, start another parallel install. This time name the folder WINDOWS1. No wireless mouse or any other hardware connected...just the bare laptop.
Instructions from a previous reply.

It (again) skipped the collecting info, dynamic update, preparing install, and went right to Installing windows. We haven't reached the 33 minutemark yet. I'm not really happy it skipped all the steps again. Could my CD be bad??

Let me know if it hangs at 33 minutes...
Is the disk scratched or smudged?

I am seeing a blue sky with clouds and green hills! Heaven!
I now have 3 installs of XP, though.
I cannot tell you how happy I am! All is not lost! Hooraaaaaay!
