This is an ancient topic, but I want to add another solution to the pile.

The problem can also occur if your browser believes the web site is using formatting elements (JavaScript, CSS, etc.) in an insecure way. The browser will "protect" you by disabling the formatting, leaving plain text and possibly some images. In Firefox 26, this protection can be disabled by clicking the shield icon next to the address bar.

I'm having this problem with tumblr.  I've tried everything on this topic to solve the problem to no avail.  I use chrome but i tried opening tumblr using explorer but it didn't work there either.  It is not an issue with time and date.  Please help.
