fresh winxp fully updated and i found that if i didnt install the drivers for usb and audio in the right order i had LOADS trouble. thats due to needing xp-sp1 to install/use the usb ports. and then installing the audio drivers. so if all of the drivers work and are correct then what? well for me its a faulty usb port, i keep loosing all data on an 8gb sony stick. so i reformatted and used a different usb slot and the same file works now. check your usb stick and slots for any trouble if the other posts dont resolve your issues. hope it works out.

main board msi neo-v px8
WD800bb caviar 80gb
sony dvd drv
combo dvd drv
