vista problem

vista will boot up and let me log on but will not display the desktop or start bar, all there is is a blank screen and my computer window, please help me. :)

Welcome to Geeks to Go! Thank you for joining. Please read the board rules and familiarize yourself with how the board works, if you have not already.

Please do the following while you are on the screen that you have explained:
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to launch task manager
  • If you have to, click the Start Task Manager button. Then, while in task manager, please click File>New Task
  • In the field, please enter Explorer.exe and press OK.
What did that do? Please reply back with the results of attempting to start Windows Explorer!
