hi . i'm new here . i was recommended this forum to fix my problem . i clicked on some spam and opened a link which instantly gave me a virus .
my hard disc started grinding every 30 seconds for a bout 5 seconds. i ran a symmantec security scan which detected a threat and reccomended to clean it . which i did .
the grinding stopped . however i tried then to run spybot search and destroy, it is now locked and wont run . i downloaded a malware program" malwarebytes" which also will not run . i then tried to start in safe mode , but the computer will not start in safe mode, simply wont go into safe mode .
i then tried to restore the computer to an earlier date , but it will not restore to an earlier date .
on another forum a member suggested that i download hijackthis.exe and join this forum for a fix . i have downloaded this program ( registry mechanic) run the scan and 88 problems have come up. i clicked repair . and thats as far as i have got . i dont know how to save that file and post the results here .
can anyone help . cheers . please forgive my lack of computer knowledge . thanks .
