When I had my router hooked up (I dont anymore) I went into the routers config page and put dmz host on. The ip my router gave my computer was 192.168.1.1

All I did in dmz host was put the dmz to .100 so it would be like this in the dmz setting, 192.168.1.100

If you use that setting it will work every time.

If you do the port forwarding way open the appropriate ports and it will basically do the same thing but with your main real internet service providers ip.

Goto http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm and try the port forwarding way, some people get better results from that way.

find your game and type in the ports in your routers config page.

this page lists alot of routers and it might help you. Try to find yours and see if it helps.

IF this still doesnt work go back to the dmz way and get your server ip to have the ip as 192.168.1.1 so all you have to do in dmz is put .100 that setting works every time.


You can either manually set the servers ip or unplug the other computers on the network and just leave the server pluged in. Then reboot the router by unpluging the power from it a few seconds then plugging it back up.

If your not an advanced user, the manually way could clash 2 ip's together so dont try that way unless you know what your doing.

hey all,

i am trying to start a cod server. i have a motorola sbg940 wireless router/gateway. i have found the dmz enable/disable, but it doesn't have the option to enable??? it is under dhcp leases. is there a way that i can manually configure it to allow a cod server?

Every routers settings are in diff places. Read through the forum it has all the info needed ever.


You have to add the last digits in for the dmz host ip yourself.


There is another way called port forwarding you should try that way first.


All you do is open the ports for the game to pass through and let people see your server.

Hey,

First, in port forwarding, i enabled the ports 28960, 20500, and 20510. Then i tried to run the server...same thing happened :tazz: Then i enabled the dmz for the host pc, and tried running cod again...same thing...HELP :)

It doesnt tell me what all settings you have set.


Make shure dedicated is set to internet.

Turn punkbuster off for now.

Put pure server to on first and try that.



The #1 mistake that people do is when they goto start server they say, its not working.


When you goto start server it opens a console for the server to the desktop which is normal. Just keep that console minimized then go back into the game once again then look for your game.

You have a setting wrong in the dmz more than likely. This is all I can say. Everything is posted that you ever need to know in the long forum. I get the same questions over and over again.

YES! After you goto start server, it minimizes a console to your desktop. Leave that up!!!!

NOW, go back into the game again, and find your server name.

LOL :) ...cant stop laughing. Ok i did that and then went into multiplayer again and then join server. I saw my server but only under local??? could not find under internet??? i quit the console, started the start server thingy up again to make sure that i had public enabled...i did...started it back up again, and now it says "script compile error"??? and my server is not listed under local or internet in the game??? :tazz:

The script error can be because of third party mods or something wrong with the patches.


About the server, you dont have your router settings set right still...


Try to fix the dmz host in your routers config page. Setting up the dmz way is harder to set up sometimes because you have to set the last set of digits correctly to corrispond to your lan ip address your router gave you.



Try to get it to work with the port forwarding. Easier...

Sometimes your server is the very last to show up on the internet. IT takes time sometimes. Make shure you goto get new list every time not just refresh lmao...

Im going to uninstall and reinstall to clean up the mods and start over! then ill change the dmz and port forwarding! But, will my server have a low ping or high ping?

Depends how fast your connection is. Cable and dsl is going to have a rather higher ping than a rental hosted server of course.

im having problems w/ my ping when i try to play cod uo online. it varies from the 30s- over 5000. obviously it dosent get any higher then 999 while in the game and i stall out and such. the only things that are running while im in the game is x-fire, and ventrillo. thats about it. i have cable and i have a direct connection from my modem to my computer and to the wall. there is no other computers on my network. is it my computer or my modem. i played this game last year until spring when my hardrive crapped out on me. i got a new hd installed all the patches and map packs theres nothing else i need to upgrade to, but im still having ping problems. i never use to have ping problems. last year i lived on campus, this year i live in an apartment. last year i didnt need a modem, but could connect strait to the wall and never had a problem. i averaged the mid 40s. this year it varies when i check my ping on ventrillo from 30 to the most ive seen it was over 5400. if anybody can diagnose my problem that would help me out alot. this computer is mainly used for surfing and gaming.
