I've uninstalled Sigma tel Audio and after rebooting my pc, I took a screenshot and here what is says:

I cancelled the installation process because I don't have the file it was looking for:

Now that Signma Tel Audio was removed from my system, it is only normal that I can't hear any sounds from any audio/video files right? What should I do next?

Thank you for always being patient with me :)

Go back to the Intel link I gave you that reported that the Sigma Tel audio was unrecognised and accept the drivers that they offer for the Sound Max
. that was the content reported on your post 26

using this link
http://www.intel.com...ktop/detect.htm

or alternatively accept the driver offered by Driver|Max for the SoundMax- which was on your first post.

Personally I would tend towards ther Intel, as there scan should identifiy the correct one, now you have uninstalled the unwanted SigmaTel

I went to Intel' site again and here what is says:

Then I checked my Device Manager and it found this error:

When I checked Driver Max, its only saying that Sigmal Tel Driver was missing.

I don't know what sound driver is compatible with my pc.

Argh, what should I do?

You should have the Microsoft HDA Bus driver already installed.

The difficulty is that it was never released by Microsoft as a separate download, it came as part of the service packs

Try this, although it is not really for an SP3 iinstallation, but some people have reported success

http://support.micro...kb/888111/en-us

If the hotfix is offered accept it and then reboot and then try the soundmax driver installation again

If that does not work we will have to change a registry key, like you did for the system file check.

1. When you open the link I sent you did you receive the offer tio run the troubleshooter. AND if so did you run it AND if you did what please was the result

2. If you ran the troubleshooter what then happened please and what steps did YOU then take to correct the sound error., using any gidance from the troubleshooter

3. Did you then run the Hotfix.
What you have posted is the standard warning - If it was unsafe I would not have sent it you.

If it does not work

4.

If that does not work we will have to change a registry key, like you did for the system file check.

HDA Bus Driver required.

ESTABLISH A RESTORE POINT FIRST

1. Go to Start > Run and type Regedit

Step 2
This will open up Windows Registry Editor. Next, follow the location of the key below by navigation through the little [+] signs you see next to the folders.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CDSVersion

Step 3
Change the value of the CSDVersion Dword and give it the value 200.

Step 4
Try to install your driver again, you should not get the error this time. Once installed, restart your computer and restore the registry key back to 300.

I was just looking through this tread trying to fix an error I have on one of my laptops and I noticed the screenshot you posted from your msconfig settings. It looks like you are running both Avast and McAfee. Is that correct? If so you need to pick one and remove the other.

And I'm not sure why you are letting these people talk you into installing all kinds of software!
