I have an HP laptop, vista OS. it was working fine until yesterday. when i start it up, everything comes on, BUT the monitor screen. I shut it down, unplugged/replugged the power source, let it sit in off mode for a while, and nothing. anyone else had this problem - and found a solution?

Connect and external display, see if it works.

If yes then you will need to replace the laptop screen.
If no then there is something else wrong; video chip, processor, memory, power supply or system board.

thanks for your prompt reply. I literally just 15 minutes ago fixed the problem. I removed the battery and reconnected the power cord. Now it works fine, without the battery. Not sure why that would have been the problem, but it worked.
