Hello everyone,

Thanks for your time,

I have a virus that has many symptoms. I have some experience removing viruses, most have been more superfical like security platnium...Well not that many. This one has been particularly nasty. Listed below are the symptoms and actions taken to remove.

Symptoms:
computer asks to install hardware - generic volume.
no access to internet in safe mode with networking
does not allow downloading of antivirus
disabled msconfig
disabled drivers to usb ports(no putting clean antivirus from flash drive)
reboots computer during malwarebytes, comodo, microsoft Emergency response tool(however have been able to run these programs some, and removed some viruses)
comodo autorun analyzer produces 743 items and about 35 show up FLS.Unknown
Something with disc0(dont remember the wording. cant find a log file from programs I have run)
All Files were hidden on computer. for the most part

Actions taken:
Comodo - removed several items, could not fix msconfig or disc0
TDSSKiller found a few killed a few Quarantined disc0. Now finds 0 threats but symptoms persist
Malwarebytes found a few removed.
Microsoft Support Emergency Response tool found some but by the time I got to remove them reboot. Rescan has either found nothing since or it reboots mid run.
Ran TFC OldTimers tool and got malwarebytes to run without reboots early in issue
Rane unhide.exe to unhide all my docs.
Tryed to get panda antivirus, Adaware, and trends products but no luck downloading in safe mode

Sorry if its a little lengthy, I have been working on this for several days. One day I make some moves, the next not sure what to do next.

As a note I have a flash ready and waiting with trends products

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Select the All option in the Extra Registry group then Run Scan.

You should get two logs. Please copy and paste both of them.

then run OTL and Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste (ctrl +v) the text. Verify that you got it all and Then click the Run Fix button at the top
Let the program run unhindered, OTL will reboot the PC when it is done. Save the log and copy and paste it to a reply.

1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. C:
2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
4. Check both boxes and then click Start.
You will receive the following message:
The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?
Click Yes to schedule the disk check, but don't restart yet.

Start, Run, eventvwr.msc, OK to bring up the Event Viewer. Right click on System and Clear All Events, No (we don't want to save the old log), OK. Repeat for Application. Since you have Event log corruption, repeat for all types of logs.

Reboot.

The disk check will run and will probably take an hour or more to finish.

Start, Run, sigverif, OK

Press Start. This will check your drivers. If you just get a few when it finishes tell me what they are. If you get a lot just look for those with newish dates (since about the time the problem started.)

1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso
http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your Desktop:
2. Double-click VEW.exe
3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

* System
4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
* Error
* Warning

Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:

1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.

If any of the following won't run just skip to the next one.

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.
Double click aswMBR.exe
uncheck trace disk IO calls
Click the "Scan" button to start scan (Accept the Avast Engine)
On completion of the scan if the Fix button is enabled (not the FixMBR button) press it and then run a new scan and click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply
If the Fix button is not enabled then just click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

ComboFix

:!: It must be saved to your desktop, do not run it from your browser:!:

:!: Disable your Antivirus software when downloading or running Combofix. If it has Script Blocking features, please disable these as well. See: http://www.bleepingc...opic114351.html

Download and Save this file -- to your Desktop -- from either of these two sources:
http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

Double click on ComboFix to start the program.

* :!: Important: Have no other programs running. Your Task Bar should be clear of any program entries including your Browser.

* A window may open with a series of Disclaimers. Accept the Disclaimers to start the fix.

A caution - Do not run Combofix more than once. Do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed, as this may cause the process to stall or your computer to lock. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop. Even when ComboFix appears to be doing nothing, look at your Drive light. If it is flashing, Combofix is still at work.

A file will be created at => C:\Combofix.txt. I'll need to see that in your reply.

  • Download RogueKiller and save it on your desktop.
  • Quit all programs
  • Start RogueKiller.exe.
  • Wait until Prescan has finished ...
  • Click on Scan

  • Wait for the end of the scan.
  • Send me the RKreport.txt located on your desktop.

Download ESET's Service Repair http://kb.eset.com/l...vicesRepair.exe and Save it then Double click to run it.

It should reboot when it finishes. If not restart it.

Download, Save and Run farbar service scanner

It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

A a stand still until I get the ok to move forward.

Combofix has prompted me to update Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

Is this correct?

Thanks again for your time.

As long as something is happening, hard drive light flashing or the screen updating once in a while then it is running. If the hard drive light is not flashing then it has hung and you can reboot. Then go on to the next step.

Looks like I'm at the end of instructions. Farbar service scanner will not open? Window pops up then immediately goes away.

Quit all running programs and run RogueKiller once again.

  • For Vista/Seven, right click -> run as administrator, for XP simply run RogueKiller.exe
  • When prompted, type 2 and validate
  • The RKreport.txt shall be generated next to the executable.
  • If the program is blocked, do not hesitate to try several times. If it really does not work (it could happen), rename it to winlogon.exe

Please post the contents of the RKreport.txt in your next Reply.
