Hi all,

I'm planning to purchase an external hard disk for backup and moving up a lot of my media collection. Can any one provide some suggestions? I wanted to go for a 2TB capacity as it is considerably better value for money. I did a little search and found that I can get 2TB for $93 and 1TB for $76. (I don't live in US, I just converted the local currency into dollars as that would be better for users on our forums).

I have local vendors selling Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba and Sony. (Online sellers do sell the products from same brands here in my country) Does anyone have any personal experiences with those brands? I'm thinking to get Seagate among those available as it's the cheapest option. But I could add a few more bucks if it's worth spending.

Hi  bobl335wa663r,

I have  WD My Book USB 3.0 external drive that i am happy with, works well, not sure might be in your price range, read about them here.

Comes in USB 2.0 or 3.0, 3.0 are compatible with 2.0. Pretty fast but require an outlet.
