Hi guys, I'm seriously stuck with trying to set up windows 7 and I could really do with some help... Every video tutorial has skipped important bits that I've struggled with and I'm at my wits end, so any help would be HUGELY appreciated!
I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto my Macbook Pro (Version 10.9.4) I downloaded a legal 30 day trial copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, and I had planned to buy a key online after the 30 days were up and continue to use it as normal.
After a long tedious download (3-5 hours with my internet speed) I've got the Windows 7 .ISO file ready to go, I'm a bit lost at this point so I've got the ISO file saved to my desktop and I have my external 2TB hard drive plugged in as I go onto bootcamp.
I've then unchecked all the boxes except for Create Windows 7 or later install disk and then I've gone hit continue hoping for it to be an easy process, the destination for the .ISO file is the external hard drive plugged in, again I've been followng tutorials and I believe this is correct? I've also reformatted it to FAT
Upon pressing continue it goes for around 10-20 seconds and then stops and tells me there's an error and that my bootable disk could not be created. I've tried several different .ISO windows files which took hours to download thinking there's an issue with that.
I've heard various fixes, i.e. I need to unmount the .ISO windows 7 file, but I don't have a clue how to do that!
If I was to go and buy a boxed copy of windows 7 today would it streamline the whole process and can I just insert the disk and go from there using bootcamp assistant without all the confusing middle part.
Thank you in advance.
