Hello there,

Not sure if I'm doing this correctly, if not, please redirect me to where I should post the question.

So here is the situation: I have HDD driver and Linux (Ubuntu specifically) installed on it. I want to add Windows as OS, but I don't want to get rid of Linux. My laptop still has a space for an internal SSD. I plan to run pretty heavy programs on Windows, like Solidworks, AutoCAD, Visual Studio, etc...

Essentially I want to add a SSD into my laptop, install Windows 10 on it and set up a dual booting, where each OS has its own diver. I would like to know whether it's doable (considering that Linux is already installed and usually dual booting with Windows and Linux when Linux is the first one installed is an absolute pain), and considering the types of programs I plan to run on Windows (and thus on added SSD) whether it's a smart choice at all.

Advice, recommendations?

You can create free disk space for Windows 10 and install it on it, but after you install the Windows 10 you will need to boot your computer with Ubuntu and add the Windows 10 entry to the Grub menu on Ubuntu.

Here's how to add the Windows entry to the Grub menu on Ubuntu.

Thanks, this is going to be really helpful.
The thing is I'm definitely planning to add to add additional SSD driver due to storage space issue. I guess my question is better formulated like this:
Am I going to run into issues while running aforementioned programs on Windows that is installed on a additionally installed driver? There are rather finicky when it comes to hardware requirements and so is Windows.
