It's possible because Internet explorer is set as default browser you're getting that error. That's an educated guess. We know Internet explorer is broken.

So

Lets reinstall Internet explorer for now. Download the 32Bit version for Here

Let me know if that is successful.

Hi Jo,

I'm close to giving up! This is dragging on and on.

When I tried to execute the downloaded IE file, it soon stopped and said that there is already a better version installed.

I can't find it under start-control panel-programs and features,

but when I click on start, it still appears in that column on the left, quite at the top.

However, I can't get it to run. It tries to open, but then it disappears!

On a different note, isn't this computer a 64 bit computer?

And I know that I do not know diddle squat, but I found on the net

"How to fix the  'Windows Installer Service could not be accessed'  Error in Windows 7

Could that be of help?

Thanks, J

We already did that.

start
CloseProcesses:
cmd: sc config msiserver start= demand
cmd: Net stop msiserver
cmd: MSIExec /unregister
cmd: MSIExec /regserver
cmd: regsvr32.exe /s %windir%system32msi.dll
cmd: Net start msiserver

Emptytemp:
reboot:
end

*****************

Processes closed successfully.

========= sc config msiserver start= demand =========

[SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS

========= End of CMD: =========

========= Net stop msiserver =========

The Windows Installer service is not started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3521.

========= End of CMD: =========

========= MSIExec /unregister =========

========= End of CMD: =========

========= MSIExec /regserver =========

========= End of CMD: =========

========= regsvr32.exe /s %windir%system32msi.dll =========

========= End of CMD: =========

========= Net start msiserver =========

The Windows Installer service is starting.
The Windows Installer service was started successfully.

========= End of CMD: =========

EmptyTemp: => Removed 22.4 MB temporary data.

The system needed a reboot.

Hello Joe,

what should we do next?

Close the thread? The computer works fine as a backup for my work/my other computer, so we could leave it here.

And what does not work I can do on my other computer!

Thanks, J.

Well, we can always restart this thread if either of us, most likely you - LOL, has a new idea.

I am grateful regardless and will make a donation.

However, I leave the last word with you.

best, J.

Do you think Firefox would reinstall, reinstalling Firefox might be an idea, don't download from cnet either.

Get Firefox from here --->https://www.mozilla....US/firefox/new/

Lets see what error we get LOL

Hi Joe,

so you are saying I should uninstall it via Start - Control Panel - Programs -

and then use IE to get to the website you posted and download it, right?

Thanks, J

The problem with that is that I cannot open IE!

When I go to start and click on IE, the computer is trying to start it and I get a white browser window with a small turning circle in it for a few seconds and then the whole browser window disappears.

What about downloading a fresh version of IE?

Thanks, J.

No. Just reinstall Firefox, you can use Firefox to do that. Download Firefox then double click the set up file on the desktop. That will reinstall firefox, then see if flash will install. That's how I'm thinking.

What about downloading a fresh version of IE?

We tried that already and it did not work.
