I found something: I made a new word document, it opened without a problem. Saved it, and close it. then I opened it, all ok.

 

then I went to file, open, to see the word document I want to open that gives me the error: I dont see it ,

 

It seems that office word can only see docx, odt, txt files and not doc files.

 

As the document I try to open and gives an error is an doc file.

It was not word that opened the new docx file, but wordpad

 

It I righ click and select open with, then I choose word: same error.

 

 

office xml handler: I tried to open the new file with this app: nothing happens, no new windos opens or no error. 

this office xml handler has the same symbol as office 2013 for home and students.  I downloaded it from my account at office dot com. it's a 32 bit version.

Problem of office is solved, thank to you coworker thanks again.

 

I was now updating java, en flash player: but nothing happens, when I go to control panel en run flash player, the update buttons are gray.

 

and java, the update run, (uac  windows appears), but after that nothing happens.

 

google chrome uac windows also appears some times, I run it but don't see anything happening. I checked google chrome version, already the latest.

 

 

fc cannow, found some corruptions that could not be solved. another forum is tryin to fix it, I have done so many steps, and yet no free corruption windows... patience... .

Java warning

Java is a popular point of entry to your computer for malicous programs. Unless you need it to run an important software the safest approach is to completely uninstall Java. Where you do require it, then the next safest option is to disable it in your browsers until you need it, then enable it.

If you do still need Java then regularly check that it is up to date. Older versions are the most vulnerable to malicious attack.

• Download Java for Windows
  Reboot your computer.

You also need to unininstall older versions of Java.

• Open Control Panel by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search)
• Enter Control Panel in the search box and then tap or click Control Panel.
• Control Panel > Uninstall a Program
    
• Remove all Java updates except the latest one you have just installed.

Can I see if firewall is on?

I don't have Norton but I think it depends a bit on what version you have.

 

Here is a link that has some instructions for the various versions. The information is aimed at telling you how to configure to allow a certain program to communicate. Not what you intend to do but you will be able to use the information see how to access the firewall and see what you want to see.

Also, here is how to check Windows Firewall. Care though because proprietary firewalls (in your case Norton Internet Security) often turn Windows Firewall off to prevent conflict.

 

Go to Start > Control Panel and type firewall in the Search box then click Windows Firewall.

 

You should see a heading Turn Windows on or Off.

 

From there you should be able to see what the firewall status is.

 

If you are uncertain about it you might trying uninstall Norton and then reinstalling. The reinstalled version will likely set itself to the defaults.
