ok now my keyboard is not working error message, and my internet network is no longer working

With the amount of problems you are experiencing with the computer I would recommend that you run a factory reset

No the intention was to do an in place upgrade (repair)

The other alternative then is to install Windows 10, although you may need to back up your data to be on the safe side
