I'm in the third month of attempting to begin to set up a test site using a WordPress theme that was purchased in late September and am losing the will to live.
My previous computer was quite old and whenever I tried to install a test server using Wamp the computer would crash. A couple of months later, after setting up a new computer and being away for a few weeks I successfully installed Wamp, and then a basic Wordpress installation. Everything was good except I couldn't install the Theme I had purchased.
I opted for the $50 install, which is outsourced to various Envato sub-contractors. I just needed help with installing the theme to a test server and to have the database information needed to set up the site.
Because I was setting it up on a localhost that the subcontractor couldn't access, he set it up on an external server and then sent the updated files and information to install it on my localhost using importbuddy. The subcontractor's advice has been incomplete and often unhelpful, and I have watched a multitude of videos on Wamp localhost setups and Wordpress setups but the same error message keeps coming up with importbuddy not being able to connect to the server (which had been working with the original Wordpress install).
Some questions:
- Do I need to enter fields for the Wamp database? The basic Wordpress set up I had done had no fields set up and was connecting to Wordpress fine.
- Do I need to change the wp_config values (user, password, etc.) from the subcontractor's values to mine? (even though this seems to be done as part of the importbuddy process)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
