My PC showed me a notice that said it had a virus and I called the given number only to be scammed into allowing this person too control my PC remotely after doing so I now need a system password that I don't know to use my computer. Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this. Will a recovery disc help. This is for Win10 thank you

Hi Carly1234,

Welcome to GeeksToGo! :)

If you handed over payment information, contact your credit card issuer or other payment provider and put them on fraud alert immediately!

Disconnect the computer from the internet to prevent further access by the infiltrator.

Next, please follow the instructions found here to see if you can get to a command prompt to perform a System Restore. See here for system restore from command prompt. If the restore points were deleted/removed it won't work.

There are other options where you can choose Refresh your PC or Reset your PC in the first link provided above.

Keep us informed to whatever progress is achieved.

Donna :)
