At the moment I have no internet at home, but will be getting a 2Mb connection, to be honest I wont need it as I only use the internet for gaming and surfing, neither of which will fully use the 2Mb line.

However for those who live in London you can now get 24Mb connections with 24Mb Upload and 1Mb Download and for a short period you can get this for free

512kb, I think I'm gonna get 1mb. Only 3 euros more to the prize, that's cheap :tazz:

Did you tweak your modem to be able to download at that speed?

No need to tweak your modem. Dialup is slow, but not unusable. I've been stuck with it for about 3 months now and I've downloaded files over 100mb in about 10 hours.

I do the same. I start the download before going to sleep, and in the morning it's done. It's not as convenient as broadband but it still does the job. I also have a special offer with my provider on my dialup account. I pay only $1 flat rate from 7pm to 7am.

Altough I'm getting my new ASDL connection soon. :tazz:

I am also hoping for ADSL in a near future... :tazz:

Actual speed of downloading is 5 kb/s, when the connection is good... Anything about 4 kb/s i also consider to be good. Important thing about dial-up is a stability of a connetion, otherwise it gets bad (in the beginnings i couldn't download 200 kb because connection would snap)... Theoretically it can download up to 7kb/s (max), but realistically i never heard that it went above 5.5 - 5.8 kb/s (it depends how far are u from your telephone central, quality of cables, your modem, etc).
