Hello Lostris,

I think I need an in depth scan.

Download avz4.zip from here
  • Unzip it to your desktop to a folder named avz4
  • Double click on AVZ.exe to run it.
  • Run an update by clicking the Auto Update button on the Right of the Log window: Posted Image
  • Click Start to begin the update
Note: If you recieve an error message, chose a different source, then click Start again
  • After the update, from the "File" menu, choose "Standard Scripts"
  • Put a check next to item 2: Advanced System Investigation
  • Click Execute selected scripts
  • At the next prompt, click the OK button
  • Let the scan run and click "OK" when the completion prompt pops up
  • Now Close out of the Standard Scripts window, and exit AVZ
  • Navigate to the avz4 folder and locate the folder LOG
  • Inside the LOG folder you will find virusinfo_syscheck.htm and virusinfo_syscheck.zip
  • Attach the Compressed file, virusinfo_syscheck.zip, to your next reply, along with a fresh HijackThis log

Hello lostris,

How many accounts do you have on this computer?

  • Close all windows then double click on AVZ.exe
  • Click File > Custom scripts
  • Copy & paste the contents of the following codebox in the box in the program

    beginSetAVZGuardStatus(True);SearchRootkit(true, true); DeleteFile('C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-0243336031-4052116379-881863308-0850\vsse32.exe');BC_ImportDeletedList;BC_Activate;RebootWindows(true);end.
  • Note: When you run the script, your PC will be restarted
  • Click Run
  • Restart your PC if it doesn't do it automatically, and post back with a new HijackThis log.

There is just one account, the administrator account, and then the guest account is switched off.

Ok have done the script thing. Still getting prompted by Avast about virus's. I get NirCmd.exe quite a bit.
Does this have anything to do with my PC not being able to handle windows updates?
What about this line in the log below: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k. It's just i noticed it wasnt in some of the earlier logs and that it is system32.
Sorry if these are time wasting thoughts.

I have installed zone alarm firewall. I then switched off system restore, ran avast, switched on system restore, ran avast.

Since then there's been no virus prompts from avast. Zone alarm prompted me once about an IP address which i blocked.

I haven't been using my computer for long today, so may still get something but here's hoping. Internet explorer these past two days does seem to freeze alot though. And after the computer come's out of stand by sometimes doesnt work or once explorer changed to look like it was windows 95 or something.

Hi, I turned off autoplay and plugged my pen drive in.

I then ran avast scan on it and it found two virus's that i deleted: autorun.inf and some lengthy virus's that ended in SCtri.

I then reformatted the pen drive and ran avast again and no virus's.

Do you think the pen drive is safe to use now?

Hi Thunderbird1988,

My computer seems to be fixed.

I reformatted again. Turned of system restore. Installed drivers, zone alarm and avast. Then connected to internet and installed remaining drivers. Ran avast and no virus's! Just one prompt from zone alarm about a IP address.

The only thing different this time is that i seem to have two versions of XP installed. When i switch on the computer and before XP starts i get a black screen asking me what operating system to ran. I have two choices and both XP Pro. I always choose the top one.

Apart from that (which im not worried about) everything else is fine.
