Vista freezes if I leave my laptop alone for a few minutes

I updated the drivers but now I can't get vista to load properly. If I ever manage to get onto the desktop its only a few minutes before it dies again. I don't get any warning, it just freezes and does nothing, all I can do is turn it off and back on.

I think, we're back to square one - send it back to where the computer was apparently "repaired".

I managed to get into safe mode and back up my data, while I was there I did a virus scan. I had some spyware I needed to delete in my cookies but that was it. What was interesting was AVG noted a reading error in boot sector of disk C:. I have no idea what this means. My laptop actually stays on while I'm in safe mode, although I haven't tried to do anything on it other than copy my data and scan for problems.
