Follow this manual: http://www.vistax64....tall-vista.html

Step 1 in this manual gives the warning: WARNING: Do not boot the computer and run the Vista installation DVD from boot. A upgrade install will not work this way. I can't run the OS so can i run the installation dvd from boot?

Turns out I can't choose the upgrade option because I can't log into windows.

I downloaded the seatools created the iso disk and ran it on the xps. I got and error when it tried to copy to the C: drive, and then three lines of code showed up stating:
Invalid Opcode at 7147 1660 3082 604C 62E9 607C 0002 0000 0010 6D1D A0A0 6D01 0000

I don't know if that was what you needed but thats what the computer gave me.

Did you boot from Seatools CD?
What did you actually try to copy to C drive?

Yes I booted from the Seatools CD I made. I personally didn't try to copy anything the cd just ran when I booted the computer.

So you're saying, the test started to run, and at some point, it displayed Invalid Opcode error?

That is correct let me run it again and see if I can right down exactly what it says to clarify.

Invalid Opcode error happens, when the processor is not able execute certain command.
Since the hard drive is not participating at this moment, the two most likely reasons are:
- file problem (in your case, bad CD, bad download, bad burn, etc.)
- RAM problem

I've run it a couple more times and I don't get the Invalid Opcode error any more but I still get an error.

I suspect, you may have RAM problem.
If you have more than one RAM stick, try to start the computer with one stick at a time.
