By the way, when my system dies, I just discovered I also get a hidden message box from Windows as follows:

Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed.
Problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows
will notify you if a solution is found.

Thanks again. Let me know what's next . . .

My system just went down with no warning. Just instant black screen followed by a restart. And it re-booted into safe mode. While in safe mode after about 2 minutes I got the famous old DCOM message, and it went down and rebooted in normal mode. I guess safe mode isn't too safe. Altogether it's gone down 16 times today. I'm really frustrated about now. I can't afford to do it, but if I could right now I'd back up all my data and go buy Windows 7. Maybe that wouldn't even help. Any suggestions greatly appreciated . . .

Uninstall Cyberlink as that is part of the error messages you are getting.
Let me know if this stops or slows down the errors.

The only "CyberLink" I could find on my system was an auto play list under PowerDVD. I deleted all of those files. I searched on the program list under "Uninstall Programs" from the control panel, but could not find anything related to cyberlink there. I'll let you know if it makes any difference. Thanks.

Yes Cyberlink is part of PowerDvd
To make sure it is all gone please do the following.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller
  • Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
  • Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall(Powerdvd)
  • From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
  • Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
  • In the next window select the Advanced mode
  • Click Next to start uninstalling the program
  • Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
  • When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
  • Once complete, click Next, then Finish
  • Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

I do not have the Revo Uninstaller on my system. However, I did uninstall PowerDVD using the control panel uninstaller. If that's not sufficient, let me know. I know it took a bunch of stuff off my system, including some shared DLL files (it asked me first, and I thought I should get as much off the system as possible). I'll let you know how effective it turns out to be. Thanks again.
