I pressed F2 during startup to get into PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility. Scrolled over to Boot. Scrolled down to Network Boot which is now highlighted.

Options on the bottom:
F1 help
esc Exit
updown left right arros
F5/F6 change values
Enter Select submenues
F9 Setup defaults
F10 save and exit

Pressing enter doesn't open any submenus

I have the option to expand collapse if there is a + or - next to the item or press f5/f6 to move item up or down in boot order.

Nothing to disable :)

In the BIOS boot options I clicked restore defaults and it loaded the boot manager. It gave me the option to run Startup Repair and asked me to load to a system restore point which I agreed to. It is currently restoring and I will give you the results once it's done.

In the case that I am able to load windows would you recommend I search for viruses/rootkits? I think something is lurking in my D: partition (for files) which is totally destroying my bootup and causing BSODs. What software combo would you recommend?

Okay so the boot repair failed but Windows is booting normally for now so I guess it doesn't matter.

If you believe there is a possible infection then all I can do is suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the
START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own.
If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum.
If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

I performed all tests in the malware/virus forum and came out clean on every test. I also reformatted my drive completely. My computer behaved for a day and then returned to BSODs. I have attached Windows 7's report from the latest crash.

The hard drive is about one year old. Is it possible that the connectors on the laptop are going bad? It'll go from saying the hard drive cant be found to working fine then BSOD crashing within the same hour.

It could be a faulty connector or a failing motherboard.
Could be the cmos on the motherboard is failing.
At this point the possible problems are getting beyond the scope of what I can advice you to do since it means opening the laptop up and check the actual motherboard connections.
This would have to be done by a shop with the special tools they use to take apart the laptop. The only thing I see that is questionable is the fact it keeps coming up with the PXE Media error which usually means the system is trying to boot to a network or the hd is having problems staying connected.
This could point to a cmos battery or a bad connection.
The report you sent does not have info on the BSOD's so please do the following.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Go to
Start and then to Run
Type in Chkdsk /r Note the space between k and /
Click Enter ...It will probably ask if you want to do this on the next reboot...click Y
If the window doesn't shutdown on its own then reboot the system manually. On reboot the system will start the chkdsk operation
This one will take longer then chkdsk /f

Note... there are 5 stages...
It may appear to hang at a certain percent for a hour or more or even back up and go over the same area...this is normal...
DO NOT SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN WHILE CHKDSK IS RUNNING OR YOU CAN HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS
This can take several hours to complete.
When completed it will boot the system back into windows.

Let me know if this fixes the problem

It said the volume is clean it only took 20 minutes I think it only checked my C partition and I have a large D partition.

According to my experience memory's cnflict is responsible for the most BSOD. As you say, you change memories too. Try to put your old memories back.

I've done many fresh installs of windows 7 already and that hasn't fixed the problem. I'm not on vista.

If its not fixing the problem then we have to look at the other hardware.

Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.
  • It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
  • Now go to Start and then to All Programs
  • Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
  • In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
  • Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
  • Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
  • Attach it to your next reply
