Just tried playing youtube on firefox..and still no sound

Can you test it with Chrome. I like that browser. :) It uses its own flash player.

theres something called sound scheme.. its a drop down menu and theres two options..

NO sounds.. and windows default..

I NOTE that NONE of them is selected.. I suspect I may need to select windows default and
save it...just wonder if you agree before I try it..

Sound schemes refer to windows operating system sounds. I don't think it will solve the problem but there is no harm in trying.

Tell me how it goes.

Hi Sal,

Before I was watching videos on a website that I thought was connected to youtube..
and I think it is..

BUT I went direct to youtube and tried to play a video..

and its saying that I need to upgrade my adobe flash player.

I think Ive had some issues with adobe programs before...acrobat as well as flash.

Can they be subject to problems in general ?

It very well may be. In fact, I am thinking along those lines. Flash Player updates has been the main headaches of youtubers.

Were you able to download and install the Chrome browser?

The adobe message only seems to show up when I play it on firefox..and NOT on IE..
Firefox says I needed an adobe update... I am not sure if maybe my origional adobe may
had disappeared...if so I ma not sure how..

I do suspect though that adobe may have caused me some problems in the past.

I was also wondering do you think maybe some of the program code that you wrote to install
in combofix may have caused the sound problem

I will try google chrome, BUT I am wary of google in general...I believe from what I am told
it is designed to spy on users.. and that concerns me..Its a CIA program..from what Im led to believe.

I tried to update my adobe flash and I tried youtube on firefox again,

this time I dont get any messages telling me to update with adobe flash, BUT the sound
on the videos still do not work.

Maybe I need to restart, so I will try and see if this makes a difference, so I may be offline
a few minutes..

Reinstalling the application may solve the problem.
To reinstall adobe flash player:
Press Start > Control Panel and choose Add Remove Programs.
Look for Adobe Flash on the list and choose to uninstall.

Download and install a fresh copy of Adobe Flash Player here.

We only removed MSE drivers that was no longer in use.

I understand. You may uninstall it later and we'll just use it for audio test.

Some rather strange going ons...

I uninstalled all adobe flash progs inc plugin..

reinstalled the new adobe flash on the link you gave me.

I just went to Firefox and youtube again and played a video..

NOW I am getting a message again telling me ..............

You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video.
Download it from Adobe.

What I am not sure is if this was the plug in that I found..as otherwise its seems
very strange :)

If FF is telling you to upgrade to the latest version of Flash, there will normally be a yellow bar at the top part of the screen wherein you can just click and let FF do the updating itself.

VERY VERY VERY WEIRD !!!

After I RE uploaded Adobe Flash from the link you gave me..

I then went back to FF and youtube...and as I said.. I got another message saying that
I need adobe flash....SO I clicked on their link and uploaded it again via FF..

And What puzzles me is it seemed to do so... I didnt think it would, as I thought it would
say I already have a copy... BUT although it seemed an identical url as you gave me..
it was a slightly different page as it also had an option to upload google chrome..

After I had completed this ...I went back to FF and youtube.. and this time I got a message
saying that I now need a adobe plug in... SO I have now also uploaded this as well.

I now also have google chrome and I have tried both FF and GC... and unfortunately
none seem to be working with sound..

unless I again have to restart...

if this doesnt work... I am beat :)

Moving on.

Download and install K-Lite Codecs Pack from here.
After installing, go to Start > All Programs > K-Like Codec Pack and click on "All Options"
Click on "Fixes" button
Put a check on "Fix Broken Sound"
Click on "Apply and Close"

Now test the video if sound has been restored.

I just tried to download K-Like Codec and it asked me where to save it.

I choose desktop.

I am just trying to install it..and it seems a bit complex..with many options.

and it initially has a simple and advanced option.

I selected simple.. then it has two options ( one not recommended) so I selected other.

Then Im given TWO media players that can be selcted and I can choose the two..

then I get a video and audio set of options with numerous boxes that can be selected.

this seems very complex..

most video boxes are auto selected , but no audios are not..

I am not sure if I just go along with the video options..

I suspect this may be too complex for most persons to try and decide upon inc experts..
