Hi dowsp,

I don't want you to think I've forgotten about you.

Still researching on our problem and 've sent a sos to the techs (will also review the solutions we've done so far). In the meantime, look for that CD and also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Adobe Flash and Shockwaves and see if it makes any diffence.

Its midnight here and I need to get some sleep - have to work tomorrow. :)

Hi Sal,

Thank you for your kind comments...that you had not disowned the problem :)

I just looked where I Thought that I had a copy of Windows XP and annoyingly
I am unable to find it ... I can find 3 other software discs that came with
my computer like Microsoft Works ... but not Win XP...

I may had been mistaken, maybe Dell didnt supply me a disc copy with my purchase..
BUT I thought that they had... maybe I just got a copy on my machine only.

I can try uninstalling the adobe programs... but I did do that with flash the other day.

Best regards

Hi Sal,

The CDs that I have are for Mic Works and other components on my laptop.
I cannot see any indicating Driver CD or Dell media direct..

I also seem to have another problem now.. My Printer wont work .. :)

I can switch the printer on but when I try and print.. I get a meaage saying communication
not available... then suggestions to check connection, power and to try restarting etc.
what seems unusual is that I have had messages in the past to do with warning messages etc
when printing, but this is a message that I have not seen before.

Try reinstalling the printer software and see if it helps.

What is the make and model of your printer? There must be one available for download online.

Hi Sal,

I could not find my cd, BUT I have managed to find one online.

I have installed it... but will need to restart.

Restarting is a bit annoying as I have a web page that contains a document
open that I will loose when I restart.. ( I cannot save it as its a ticket)
There is a copy emailed to me but its not the same as the one open presently.

Looks like I have no choice.

Just in case I dont get back today, I may be going away... and I hope
that I can get back online where I am going..

Cheers Dowsp

Hi dowsp,

Real life always take priority. You can do the restart later if you need to finish on something. :)

Be safe.

Hi Sal,

With my printer I found a copy of the driver online.

As for my sound on youtube.. I was aware of mute and sound controller.
I have muted and unmuted to test...and slided volume as high as it can go..
but still no sound..

Also I away for a few days at a hotel and Im writing using WIFI.. so it cannot be my own modem that I have connected at my home....

I have done google searches and looked at quite a few youtube vids
about sound problems and tried one or two things , but still no joy.

I do have a friend who knows someone who repairs laptops.......I may have to consider trying to see if he can help me if we are say not able to solve the problem in the next week or so..

Hi dowsp,

Sorry for the delay.

Can you do this scan for me. Well see if the file is missing from its proper location.

  • Run OTL
  • Click the None button at the top
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

    /md5start
    msacm32.drv
    /md5stop

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan won't take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open a notepad window. Post OTL.Txt here.

Hi Sal,

As I mentioned I was away a few days longer than expected... but I
Received your reply from my PM to you, and It may be best to keep thread open a while.

If you do find out any other suggestions to try and resolve the sound
then I would welcome any advice.

Other than that I still have what seems a keylogger problem with flickering
curser... and sometimes problems closing webpages..when I also sometimes get end now
message options...

I know we have tried several things... but any other ideas may be worth trying.

thks
