It told me this was an old version, but I used it anyway. Is this all it's supposed to say?

The OTLPE.iso link from Option 2 does not work.

I'll be slightly busy the next couple days, and need to buy some more cd-r's to burn the programs. Once I get the OTLPE.iso program, allow me a few days to get through it all.

Thanks.

Thank you for letting me know.

My mistake, I was referring to Option 2 in RogueKiller.

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.

Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it

Click Scan

On completion of the scan

Click the Fix for TDL4 or FIXMBR for Whistler Button Select as appropriate

Save the log as before and post in your next reply.

Ugh, it's telling me the file is not a valid Win32 application.

What else can we do?

I can boot in safe mode with networking. I believe there is something wrong with the Win32 file. The first time I tried ComboFix, I got some message about the Win32 file that ended up freezing the computer. I never got the message again in any of my subsequent attempts to run it.

No, unfortunately I don't. I do have the restore/recovery cd's that came with my laptop though.

Click Start, then Run, type cmd in the Open box and click "Ok". At the command prompt, type the following, pressing "Enter" after each one: (Again, note the spaces in the commands.)

chkdsk /f /r c: ..... (To manually run a full chkdsk operation)
Y ..... (To accept having it run on the next boot)
exit ....(To close the command session)

The chkdsk ran through without issue after a reboot. What should I do next?
