i had drivermax pro on my pc i downloaded the updates for the drivers now my mouse and keyboard stopped functioning

What drivers other then the Realtek HD sound did you get?

realtek was up to date i cant rember the other ones i just assumed they where the right ones there was a lot of them

Actually if realtek is up to date then that may mean we have another issue.

Can you reboot and get to the area where you pick to go into safe mode? Get there and scroll down to the line that says Last known good configuration that worked. Click enter and let the system boot normally. Does the mouse and keypad now work?

igot last known good configuation mouse and key board still not working.........went to safe mode same thing mouse keyboard not working

I need to see something. I just went through the whole thread again and I don't see anywhere the system specs.

hi i tried to do that restore but system restore seemed to be corrupted.....i decided to uninstall vista sp3 and reinstalled win xp home edotion sp2 evetything seens to work fine now except i cant get any microsoft updated.........i have autoupdates turnrd on the error message i get is.......the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page u are trying to view.....all other web pages work fine..

May just be a glitch with the web page at this time seeing that it works with every other web site.

Microsoft has made updates for Windows XP no longer available via Windows Update site unless the user has Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed.
The easiest approach is to download XP SP3 from here: http://www.microsoft...ails.aspx?id=24 and manually install it. All post SP3 updates will then be available via Windows Updates.
