Macboatmaster,
I plugged the hdd into the old sata port and it did the same thing with the message. Iwas able to get to the BIOS and I changed the boot order to boot the hdd first, I believe the hdd is seen by the PC because on the start screen it says it is in ACHI mode and it say searching for drives the hdd showes up. I noticed all of my IDE Channels 0,1,2,3 Master and Slave all say "None". what are your thoughts and my next option?

1. What is the make and model of motherboard please

2. How many hard drives are in the computer and how many partitions are on the drive that has Windows 7 installed

3. Not knowing which BIOS you have it is difficult to guide you but for instance on some BIOS setups you have this
}IGX Configuration [Press Enter]

AMD C1E Support (Note) [Disabled]

Virtualization [Disabled]

Patch AMD TLB Erratum
(Note) [Enabled]

AMD K8 Cool&Quiet control [Auto]

}Hard Disk Boot Priority [Press Enter] YOU must set the correct HDD

First Boot Device [Floppy] SO HERE even if you have set HDD as first boot device if you have NOT set the entry above - Hard disc boot priority it will not attempt to boot from the correct HDD

Second Boot Device [Hard Disk]

Third Boot Device [CDROM]

Additionally to that if the drive was orignally IDE mode and Windows was installed in that mode you cannot then simply change to ACHI mode in BIOS

you installed Windows Vista or Windows 7 in IDE Mode you can't just change the SATA controller to AHCI Mode. As you may have discovered, this will result in a BSOD and the PC will just reboot. This is due to the way that Windows is installed but you can change to AHCI Mode without reinstalling the OS though, so all is not lost. But it requires a registry tweak to get things working properly.

It is as I hope you will appreciate, a little difficult to see exactly what has happened when you

and said a function of my Anti-virus (Panda 2012) was not operating correctly and I needed to change on of my settings to allow it to function, so I did and when I restarted it on the screen this appeared in white lettering with a compleatly black screen:

changed one of your settings, but it certainly appears that this was the start of the problem.

Macboatmaster,
I did the changes you requested of me but there was a one that I had a question about, it was listed as" AMD C1E support " so I left it alone. I made the changes and thought it was going to reboot and be good but it is giving me the same message. What do you suggest?

Do not worry about it you want it disabled

AMD C1E Support

It is a method of power saving on the processor.

The important on is IF you HAVE that, that the HDD

}Hard Disk Boot Priority [Press Enter
YOU must set the correct HDD
is set
not as I a said in first boot deivce eg DVD or HDD but in that entry

On my computer I have four hard drives and my BIOS is somewhat similar to yours if I do not set the correct HDD the computer will not boot, as ONLY one hard drive is a boot device.

Yes I remember what you said and I have it selected; It says to press Enter, when I press it it takes me to a numberd list and in the # 1 space my HDD is listed. The name of the HDD looks funny but I'm sure it is it because I only am running 1. In the #2 spot it says memory card device it is probably seeing my card reader. The MB is a Gygibyte I don't know the bios version off hand.

Macboatmaster,
Ihave good news,I applied the changes to my bios and then I got that same black screen. I then just did what it told me, boot with windows disc, click on repair, it rebooted and was fixed!
I know the fourm always says to follow through with the repair even if it seems fixed,so what do I do next? Thank you again

Hello stevenits1

While Mac is unable to assist I will be happy to help if required.

In answer to your question in your last reply I suggest that you check for and install any/all important operating system updates first and see how the computer functions from then on.

Let us know when you have done this please.

Hello Phillpower,

I have already installed the updates I missed while my PC was offline. It still seems to be running fine.
