Hi Nomi,

Firstly, delete the SFCFix.zip you have on your Desktop to avoid future confusion.

You need to follow my instructions here please:

Hi Nomi,

Let's go for another SFC and see whether the fix happened or not:

SFC Scan

  • Click on the Start Posted Image button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  • This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi Nomi,

No problem, we can try this another way:

Please download the below file, packs.zip, and extract this to the root folder of your primary drive (usually C:\) so that the folders have the structure: C:\Packs\Windows... etc.

https://dl.dropbox.c...Nomi4/Packs.zip

Do you have a Windows 7 DVD? If not, I would like you to create a System Repair Disc:

http://www.sevenforu...isc-create.html

You will now need to boot into your disc. After selecting the language, click Repair Computer then click Command Prompt. In this Command Prompt window, type out the following command, double checking it for typos before pressing enter:

robocopy C:\Packs C:\ /E /IS

Then reboot your computer, do another SFC and upload your CBS log please :)

Hi Tom
I don't have a CD for Windows, as Dell installed it before I bought it and I have the product key number on a sticker under my computer.
I downloaded the scanner/fixer you recommended and found many systems errors, as I expected.
I really appreciate the effort, patience and time you have been investing in trying to help me. However, I am finding all those instructions and commands too difficult to follow through.
The software Reg Clean Pro I downloaded offers the possinility to buy the complete version for some 190$. If you think that it will fix the problem I will buy it. If you doubt it, then I won't. Also Windows offer to buy windows 7 for 180$ in order to reactivate it, but as you know mine is genuine.
The other one I downloaded :Advanced System Protector found only 2 errors in the system and nothing else, and offers to purchase the fixer for 30$.
Should I contact Dell and ask from them to fix the problem?

This is the content of the log from the systems protector:

Hi Nomi,

It sounds like you've clicked on one of the advertisements because Reg Clean Pro is the last thing I would recommend someone installs. Registry cleaners can do significant damage to a system so it's best that you stay clear of them in the future. Before we continue, can you uninstall Reg Clean Pro please?

Follow the tutorial to create a System Repair Disc: http://www.sevenforu...isc-create.html

The instructions start under Here's how:

Then follow the instructions in my last post: http://www.geekstogo...ost__p__2278329

If you ever have any questions then please stop and ask and I'll do my best to explain :)

Hi Tom

With all my gratitude to you, I give up.

Thank you so much for your efforts, however, it looks that my computer skiils are not up to this challenge.

One last question: Could the Dell DVDs that contain drivers, utilities and diagnostics be helpfull somehow?

Thank you very much indeed

Nomi

Gday Nomi4
I know just how hard it is to following multiple instructions especially when stretched over a extended period of time.
I have PMd tom982 Suggesting that a clean install or factory restore of the OS as an option. Will wait to see what he thinks.

Do you have the hardware capabilities of backing up your DATA?

Hi Nomi,

I'm sorry to hear that but it's no problem whatsoever.

It sounds like backing up all of your data then doing a clean install is your only option from here. Are you familiar with this process?

Hi Nomi,

You're most welcome for the help, it was a pleasure working with you!

There are very detailed tutorials for reinstalling Windows so you may well be able to do this yourself:

http://www.sevenforu...indows-7-a.html

It is also possible to legally download, and make, a Windows 7 DVD to use if you do want to go down this route.

It's no problem if you don't want to but let me know if you feel comfortable with doing this and I will post instructions to make a disc.

Hi Nomi,

SFCFix, the program I was using here, has been updated today in ways that will make it magnitudes easier for us to fix this problem. Again, I don't mind if you don't want to continue going down this route but it should be a matter of one quick fix this time, if you're interested :) If you want to go down the clean install route then that's no problem whatsoever, but if you do want to try this fix then please do the following:

Delete any SFCFix.exe or SFCFix.zip files on your Desktop.

Download SFCFix from this link: https://dl.dropbox.c..._Nomi4_1400.zip

Right click on SFCFix_Nomi4_1400.zip and select Extract All.... Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete and click Extract. A folder will now open with one file inside, SFCFix.exe, copy this to your Desktop.

Just to clarify, you should now have the latest copy of SFCFix.exe on your Desktop at this stage.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  • Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.

    https://dl.dropbox.c...omi4/SFCFix.zip
  • Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  • On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  • Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  • SFCFix will now process the script.
  • A log will open before your computer reboots, save this to your Desktop.
  • Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  • Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please.
