I must admit I am now at a loss as to what could be causing this as RAM checks out OK and running minimal drivers makes no difference. I am afraid I keep coming back to something in the hardware but as to what I am not sure especially with it being random like this

That would be the type of BIOS on your computer, it will normally appear as you boot. White writing on a black background before windows commences to load

Still comes up as system timer... How many sticks of RAM do you have in your computer ? If you have two could you remove one and then reboot. If you still get the freezes could you replace that one and remove the other. Then test again

msinfo brings up 4.0 GB of RAM. Let me look at the board.

My system configuration form my Service tag says 4GB DDR3 SDRAM 4X1GB.

And memory sticks are cheap, maybe $40 to replace as is. I'm chatting with Dell, let's see what they come up with

My thinking is, if the RAM is good then maybe one of the slots may be a bit iffy so removing the RAM one at a time may clear or indicate that as the problem

That is why I am looking at RAM initially .. I do not feel that this is software orientated
