OK a couple of things that were suggested.
Since IE works it would seem that some streaming plugin is missing in the other two browsers. Can you check on FF and Chrome home pages for a streaming plugin and install it.
Also if you could provide the specific site you mentioned that was still giving you a problem we could research for a possible fix.

Put your Win 7 disc in windows and do an "upgrade" It's a in OS repair and will replace your OS files and keep everything. Every year I do this to critical laptops and computers to keep them running perfect.

I am unable to find any streaming plugins on the Google Chrome page that are specifically for streaming although I have the adobe flash and so forth:
The URL that gives me the problem is:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3 and it is the same for all the BBC radio stations atho as I have said I can get the streaming from elsewhere on the BBC site.

Hello impOster, I don't have a Windows 7 disc altho my version is legitimate. When I bought the computer it came with everything already downloaded. Annoying that I don't have a disc however I have recently deleted and re-installed via a back up. It's not such a huge problem but it's niggling at me...

Not that it will help now but you can contact the manufacturer of the laptop and request the recovery set of disks which will include the OS, Drivers and all programs that were originally installed on the laptop from the factory.

Not an answer to your browser problem, but you can download a legal copy of Windows 7 with SP1 integrated from here:
Windows 7 Direct Download Links
Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.
I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file.
You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID KEY TO INSTALL THIS .ISO. The one on the COA sticker on your computer will work.
You can also create a bootable USB Flash drive (4GB or larger) to install Windows 7 from.
This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

Thank you for trying Ron, it's not such a big issue at all and so I will live with it, it's not as if I can't get BBC radio and I could always contact the manufacturer of the computer as you suggest.
