I will try to keep this short. I recently built my first gaming PC and it was running very well. Boot up took 30 seconds and games loaded just as quick and ran great. But one problem I had was it would not shut down. It would instead simply restart and be ready to log in again. I attempted to diagnose this by turning off autoboot and received a BSOD saying a unspecified hardware driver was misbehaving (http://i.imgur.com/IjMMMtQ.jpg), not very helpful. After removing an adware program the computer was now able to shut down. But since then it has been performing very poorly and I have no idea why. It now takes roughly 2 minutes to boot up and I am not even able to play a game.

Outside of trying to play games, everything else runs very speedy and shutting down takes only a few seconds. I am at a loss and my only idea is just to reinstall the OS. Unfortunatly I had downloaded the OS from school and so I am currently attempting to redownload the OS to mount it to an external drive again to reinstall but if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is or can suggest how I should attempt to diagnose the problem I would appreciate the help.

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Thanks to Broni for the instructions and program

Thanks for the reply! I don't know if this good or bad but the program does not find any crash records. I have decided to bite the bullet and pick up Home Edition as I have been unable to burn a CD from the ISO file that I had gotten from the school's service. While I wait to receive the installation discs can you recommend a service that tests drivers and hardware to ensure everything is installed and running properly?

I want to try Driver Verifier to see if it shows anything causing the issue.
After running it you can disable it if you wish. Just follow the instructions on the page to enable, run and then disable it.

To test the drive itself you can do this.
Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (chose "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, try the Hitachi DFT CD Image version of the software

Thanks to Broni for the instructions

To test the memory do the following.

A If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip). If you prefer to use the USB version then use this link USB KEY
2. Unzip downloaded /memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find /memtest86+-4.20.iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

Posted Image

8. Locate memtest86+-4.20.iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

Posted Image

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run. You may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to make it work right.

To change Boot Sequence in your BIOS

Reboot the system and at the first post screen (where it is counting up memory) start tapping the DEL button
This will enter you into the Bios\Cmos area.
Find the Advanced area and click Enter
Look for Boot Sequence or Boot Options and highlight that click Enter
Now highlight the first drive and follow the directions on the bottom of the screen on how to modify it and change it to CDrom.
Change the second drive to the C or Main Drive
Once that is done then click F10 to Save and Exit
You will prompted to enter Y to verify Save and Exit. Click Y and the system will now reboot with the new settings.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

Posted Image

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

I am currently restarting the PC to test out the Driver Verifier. I use Soluto to monitor my devices and it shows that when I installed DAEMON Tools Ultra on Jan 02 I had inadvertently installed the adware program Iminent and subsequently after that, the boot time jumped by a minute and a half and the issues with games came as well. Unfortunatly System Restore does not have a restore point earlier than that installation and I think that is the key here, trying to revert back to before that installation.

Have you uninstalled the program and then manually uninstalled the adware program?
There may be a way to stop Iminent from starting also by looking at the autoruns.

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Click the Options at the top of the Window. In the new little window click the box that states Hide Microsoft Services
5: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
6: Save the file as AutoRuns.txt file instead of the default .arn to a known location like your Desktop.
7: Attach to your next reply.
8: DO NOT do anything till we have had a chance to study the log and reply with suggestions as to what to remove.

I had uninstalled Iminent from the control panel, checked Internet Explorer and Chrome to ensure it was not installed and just ran a cleaning operation using Adwarecleaner, it's results are below.
I am now proceeding to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to perform a scan.
I have noted that with the most recent reboot, boot time is now back down to 45 seconds. I have not received any BSOD from the Driver Verifier yet.

The Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan turned up 43 items. Upon restarting I received the following BSOD (http://i.imgur.com/BorGWZs.jpg). Windows could not repair the computer automatically. After shutting down and booting up again it promptly booted up without a hitch in 55 seconds. I am now going to proceed with hard drive diagnostics.

I have a Samsung SSD, should I use the Samsung Drive Manager 1.0.147 - it only describes using it for external drives, shouldn't make a difference right?

No it is a SSD don't run diagnostics on it.

0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. Use the General Troubleshooting of STOP Messages checklist above. Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own.)

Did you recently update any drivers or add new hardware? How about software of new lately?

Below are the results from the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan. This definitely sounds like a problem with with one or more drivers. Because I just built this around Christmas, so everything is basically new. Do you know of any free tools that can diagnose drivers? I am going to attempt to get into safe mode.
