Hi SleepyDude,

No errors popped up during the install, so I think everything went okay! But was something supposed to change after the install, because all the "unknown devices" are still there.

Ok. No internet working I suppose? Please post a new MiniToolBox log.

We can take care of the "unknown devices" next, I did some testing with Windows Vista and the other devices don't seems to limit the internet access as I expected.

Hi SleepyDude,

I took a screenshot of the command prompt window for you; I don't think either command got a good result, but here's the pic so you can see for yourself!

Hi,

I'm not sure this will make any difference but let's fix the unknown devices...

  • Go back to the Device Manager and uninstall all the unknown devices, right click in each of them and click Uninstall
  • Reinstall the devices using devcon. Open the Command Prompt as Administrator and copy & paste the following commands:
copy nul c:\windows\inf\rasirda.sys

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_NdisWanIp

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_NdisWanIpv6

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_NdisWanBh

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_L2tpMiniport

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_PppoeMiniport

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netrasa.inf MS_PptpMiniport

devcon64 install c:\Windows\inf\netsstpa.inf MS_SstpMiniport

  • Restart the computer
  • Open the Device Manager, if the Miniport devices installed correctly they will not show unless you enable the option Show hidden devices on the View menu.

Let me know the result.

Hi SleepyDude,

I uninstalled and reinstalled the devices like you asked and all the miniports were back once I selected the "show hidden devices" option...seems promising!

Hi,

  1. Open the Device Manager and uninstall both the network cards Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN and Marvell Yukon 88E8040 make sure you check the box "Delete the driver software for this device"
  2. Restart the computer
  3. Reinstall the drivers for the networks cards using the files you downloaded from the Dell website

Please post the Minitoolbox log like you did last time.

Hi SleepyDude,

Sorry for the long delay, I was having trouble reinstalling the drivers; it was taking so long! I think they got stuck a couple of times, but I was finally able to finish the install this morning. Here's the new MiniToolBox log:
