The sound card  ( CAAP ) came up on the dell '[sound interactive test' as ABNORMAL.

 

I did a test of the drivers and all are up to date - used WinZip.

OK lets now run a check on the drivers using a small programme. When this programme runs it will produce a list of missing/out of date drivers do not install any yet but screenshot it if possible and let me know if it finds drivers for the following :

VGA.. Graphics
PCI.. Communications
Audio

Download Slimdrivers to your desktop
Install the programme remove the tick from mypcbackup

On completion run
On the first page select Start Scan


Once it has completed then let me know what it finds

You will need to reboot after each download and install, also allow a restore point to be created each time

Nope when you click to install the driver it will offer to create a restore point, just click OK  and once installed it will offer to reboot again select OK

And I like I remembered. It is plugged into the bottom slot - not in the diagram - the black plug in hole - I don't get it really

Speed - could be quicker although it does seem faster.

 

O - when I restart - white letters on black background come up - there for 2 seconds then poof it's gone - so I cannot read it all - but what I can catch is:

recovery console - debugger (?) - up or down key  ( select from a menu I guess)

 

any thoughts on why it IS the black color coded plug in on the bottom?

No idea why it is the black plug, it is probably a function of the sound card. It is one added after the computer was bought, hence the problems

The debugger is the recovery console, we will remove the start prompt but leave the console on there in case you need it

Go to Control Panel > click System
Select the Advanced tab
Click Settings within the Startup and Recovery section

Remove the tick from Time to display list of operating systems

Ok. Thanks. I did that.

 

And I checked the Volume tab in the S & A window. Works fine. I can now use it and adjust it if I want.

 

I just restarted and counted 1 one thousand etc. from when I clicked on Firefox icon to the homepage appearing. About 35 seconds.

So yeah, it ought to be faster.

 

Besides the speed - is there anything else that needs to be done, that you can think of?
