Would you happen to have, or know where to acquire another OEM copy of your OS?
I have seen multiple posts on the internet with people saying they have had the same problems as you
they switched OS and everything went back to normal (All 7 USB hubs went back to work)
Just saying, If you have an extra copy of windows 7 laying around it would be worth a shot, instead of replacing your motherboard then later find out it was not your motherboard in the 1st place

well I think I have the code. so can't I pull a copy from the net? I don't want to overwrite all my saved data though. some guy put this windows 7 on my new HD a year ago. I can't get up with him.
plz understand also that the problem began with my ps/2 (not usb) keybd not responding on wakeup. then the mouse started dying a month later (it is usb). i also have a printer and ext HD hooked in via usb and am not aware that they have had any problems. i think the keybd may be ok now. still waiting for it to die again.

The code you speak of, Is that the same code that was used on the first install of windows? I thought they could only be used one time for install. I may be wrong?

Backup your data before reinstalling. Even though a Repair Install is not supposed to touch your data, things happen so it's best to be safe.
If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, or it's not up to the Service Pack level currently installed, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here:
Windows 7 Direct Download Links
Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.
I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file. Just be careful during the install not to accidentally install some of the bundled junk that comes with it. Always take The Custom Install option.
You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID KEY TO INSTALL THIS .ISO.
The one on the COA sticker on your computer will work.
If you are just using the Recovery Console you do not need a key.
You can also create a bootable USB Flash drive (4GB or larger) to install Windows 7 from.
- Download and run Universal USB Installer Easy as 1 2 3
- Select Windows 7 from the first drop down list, all the way to the bottom
- Select the downloaded Windows 7 iso file
- Select your USB flash drive
- Click Create
For techies or folks who work on computers:
Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.
This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

Well, I think my PC keybd and mouse problem may be gone. Initially, the keybd would not operate on wakening. After a month or so, the mouse started doing the same thing. Only a reboot would bring them to life. A week or so later, even the reboot would take 3 tries before they came to life. During all this time I had tried other keybds and mice, run anti-malware software, registry cleaners, uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers and USB ports, run memory and BIOS diagnostics, replaced the CMOS battery, and all to no avail. Finally, I pulled by hard drive out of the tower and placed it in another. The problem seems to be resolved since I’ve had no incidents today. I’m assuming the problem was in the motherboard. Since it progressively got worse over time I would guess it was a hardware problem on the motherboard as opposed to firmware but I’m no tech expert. I’m just hoping I’m done with this problem.
Anyone out there know how expensive a motherboard is?
Thanks for everyone’s input.
