That is a step in the right direction but Defender is still shown to be disabled, if you confirm this by manually checking as you did before, while it may seem contradictory I would download and install Avast to make sure that you have AV protection, to avoid any unwanted ads being forced on you choose the Download@Authors Site tab here once installed allow Avast to complete a full scan of your computer and to be fully updated, let us know if you encounter any problems while doing the aforementioned please.

 

NB: If Avast will not install, I will ask RKinner to take another look and possibly move your thread to Malware Removal.

I went to action centre and clicked on Windows Defender turn on

 

when I clicked it it went into windows system 32 file  and is still not on so I will do avast

when I click on down load AVAST a box comes up asking me how I want to down load the file? that's never happened before
